Alarm.com video has no local path: the camera serves no RTSP or ONVIF stream, and needs a video plan bought through a dealer. A picture can be coaxed into Home Assistant through an unofficial community integration, but only by way of Alarm.com's servers on a reverse-engineered API.
A maintained community fork does now expose Alarm.com cameras in Home Assistant, streaming over WebRTC and rendered by a custom Lovelace card it ships. That makes the picture reachable, which is worth knowing on a takeover, but it does not make the camera local: the stream is fetched from Alarm.com with short-lived tokens, so it depends on the paid plan, the vendor cloud, and an unofficial project Alarm.com can break at any time. Recordings still cannot be held on hardware the client owns. We specify cameras that serve RTSP and ONVIF directly, so Frigate or an on-site NVR holds the footage and Home Assistant gets the detections without a subscription in the path.

Completely wire-free on a 9,540mAh battery, which is the reason to pick it: a door with no existing bell wiring and no practical route for any.
Two requirements come with that. It will not associate to the house Wi-Fi at all: Alarm.com requires it to connect through one of their own access points, which means an ADC-W115C Smart Chime, an ADC-SG130 Smart Gateway, an IQ Panel 4, IQ Panel 4 Hub or IQ4 NS, or an IQ Wi-Fi 6. Most homes end up with the W115C because it is also the thing that rings indoors. On top of that it needs an Alarm.com video plan, so budget for at least two items and a subscription rather than one item.
Onboard recording is deliberately absent because continuous writing would drain the pack, so every clip goes to Alarm.com and nowhere else.
For a genuinely unwired door, a battery doorbell on a local platform is the comparison to make. Several now pair to a local hub and hand Home Assistant both the stream and the press without a subscription.
