ADC-W115C

Not recommended

The wireless chime for Alarm.com doorbells, which doubles as an access point for their cameras. The usual host for the battery doorbell, and inert to anything but Alarm.com.

Selora does not recommend this device

The chime pairs only with Alarm.com doorbells over Alarm.com's own path, so Home Assistant can neither see the press that rings it nor ring it from an automation.

Announcing a door press is one of the things a local system does best, routing it to speakers, lights, or a phone depending on who is home and what time it is. A chime that answers exactly one vendor's doorbell and nothing else forecloses all of that. A local doorbell hands Home Assistant the press event, and any speaker or media player in the house becomes the chime.

Protocols

Two devices in one plug: a 77dB chime that rings when an Alarm.com doorbell is pressed, and a Wi-Fi extender for Alarm.com cameras. 2.4GHz only.

It is close to required kit on a battery doorbell install. The ADC-VDB780B will not join the house Wi-Fi and has to associate to an Alarm.com access point; an ADC-SG130, an IQ Panel 4 or an IQ Wi-Fi 6 will also serve, but the W115C is the one that additionally rings indoors. Treat it as a line item on that job rather than an accessory.

As a chime it is a closed loop: the press comes from an Alarm.com doorbell over Alarm.com’s own path and rings this box. Home Assistant can neither hear the press nor sound the chime, which is precisely the announcement routing a local doorbell would hand you for free.

Hardware availability

Alarm.com hardware is sold and provisioned through authorized dealers, and the video, access control and business products also need the matching Alarm.com service plan on top of the hardware. The Z-Wave devices are the exception: they carry no service dependency once they are out of the panel’s network, and they turn up on the resale market at a fraction of dealer pricing.
