The Aqara Smart Lock U100 is a fingerprint and keypad deadbolt with Apple home key support. Home Assistant controls it locally through an Aqara Zigbee hub acting as a Matter bridge. The hub is required for any HA control.

Roles it can fill
The U100's Zigbee is hub-locked: it cannot be reset into a joinable state for ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT, and no Zigbee2MQTT converter exists, so plan on an Aqara hub (M2, M3) bridging it into Home Assistant over Matter, which keeps control local on the LAN. HA then gets lock, unlock, state, and battery; fingerprint and PIN user identity stays in the Aqara app. A hub-free HomeKit-over-Bluetooth pairing works for some users but has documented pairing failures, not an install-grade path. Apple home key works hub-free. The budget U50 shares this hub-bridged setup but drops the fingerprint reader. For a hubless Aqara install, choose the Matter-over-Thread U200 or U300 instead.
