The August Smart Lock (3rd generation) is a retrofit lock that replaces the inside thumb turn of your deadbolt and keeps your keys. It talks over Bluetooth, so Home Assistant needs the August Connect Wi-Fi Bridge to reach it through the August cloud.
Mounts over the inside of an existing single-cylinder deadbolt, so the outside of the door and the keys stay the same. Comes in silver, dark gray and satin nickel.
The lock itself only speaks Bluetooth. Home Assistant reaches it through the August cloud, which needs the August Connect Wi-Fi Bridge plugged in near the door, so buy the Smart Lock + Connect bundle. The integration shows the lock, battery and who last operated it.
We do not recommend it for new installs: it depends on the August cloud and an extra bridge. A Matter lock such as the Level Bolt fits the same retrofit job with local control.
