Home Remote

A 4.5-inch touchscreen remote in machined aluminium, built for rooms with no television, that drives lighting, shades, climate, and audio from a single handset. It runs AVA OS on certified Android, so Home Assistant is reached through webhooks or an app locked in kiosk mode rather than a native integration.

Roles it can fill
There is no Home Assistant integration for this remote and it creates no entities: Home Assistant sees nothing when one is added to a house. Control runs the other way, with AVA OS calling Home Assistant over the LAN through webhooks or REST, or with kiosk mode locking the remote into an Android app from the Play Store. Installers on the Home Assistant forums favour webhooks over the companion app, and flag the consequence of driving the house from both ends: an activity started in Home Assistant does not update what the remote is showing, because nothing feeds state back. Hardware is a 4.5-inch touchscreen, quad-core at 2 GHz, 32 GB storage, Wi-Fi 802.11ac on both bands, Bluetooth LE 5.0, and NFC, in a single piece of anodised aluminium with a magnetic charging dock and a 2200 mAh battery. AVA's spec sheet lists no infrared, which is the split with the Cinema Remote: this one is for rooms without a TV. Native drivers target Lutron, Crestron, Control4, Savant, and Sonos.

Hardware availability

AVA sells through custom-install dealers rather than direct, and programming AVA OS needs a Pro account issued through that dealer channel. Budget for the account and the dealer relationship, not just the hardware.
