eero Pro 7
eero's tri-band Wi-Fi 7 router with two 5 GbE ports, for homes with internet plans up to 5 Gbps. It is a Thread border router that Home Assistant discovers through its Thread integration.
Tri-band Wi-Fi 7 on 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz, with two auto-sensing 5 GbE ports and up to 190 m² of coverage per unit. It sits between the eero 7 and the Max 7: the 6 GHz band and the faster ports are the reasons to pick it over the eero 7, and the Max 7 only pays off when the internet plan or the backhaul needs 10 GbE. Any single unit can be the gateway that replaces the existing router, or join an existing eero network to extend it.
Every Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 eero is a Thread border router, and Home Assistant’s Thread integration discovers each one over mDNS. The announcement carries no credentials, so the eero Thread network only becomes Home Assistant’s preferred network once its credentials reach Home Assistant: the eero app saves them to the phone’s keychain by default, and the Home Assistant Companion app sends them on. Check that hand-off on site before planning Matter devices around the eero mesh, because left alone an eero and a Home Assistant border router run two separate Thread networks.
The Zigbee hub and Matter controller built into it work with Alexa, not Home Assistant.
The network itself has no official Home Assistant integration. A community one on GitHub, schmittx/home-assistant-eero, adds presence from connected clients, guest network and profile pause switches, and firmware updates, all through eero’s cloud rather than the local network. It cannot sign in with an Amazon login, so it needs a separate eero account added as a network admin. Its last release was in September 2025, and since June 2026 users report that setup fails on current Home Assistant without an unreleased patch, so it is not one to install for a client today.
