Door & Window
Eve Door & Window is a battery contact sensor on Matter over Thread that tells Home Assistant whether a door, window, cabinet, or gate is open or closed.
A small contact sensor for a door, window, cabinet, or safety gate. It mounts without tools and runs on one replaceable ½ AA (ER14250) battery.
It runs on Matter over Thread, so it needs a Thread border router on the network. Home Assistant adds it through the Matter integration without an Eve account, and shows it as a door sensor that reads open or closed, along with its battery level.
Buy the current version, which has the Matter logo on the box. Older units were sold for Apple HomeKit only and have to be upgraded to Matter first, which takes an iPhone or iPad and an Apple home hub such as a HomePod mini.

Door or Window Left Open Alert
Installs a Home Assistant automation that watches your door and window sensors and pushes a notification to your phone when one is left open past a grace period while nobody is home. Add lights and it flashes the room, add a speaker and it announces the warning out loud.
Window Open HVAC Pause
Installs a Home Assistant automation that turns the thermostat off when a window is left open, so you are not heating or cooling the street, and turns it back to the mode it was in once every window is shut. Add door sensors and a temperature sensor for the full picture.
