GC-100-06

The GC-100-06 network adapter combines three IR ports and one RS-232 port in a single Ethernet-connected box. It is the entry point of the GC-100 range that Home Assistant's itach and gc100 integrations are written against, and it is still the unit found in a great many existing AV racks.

Three 3.5mm ports, each selectable as an IR output or a sensor input, plus one male DB9 RS-232 port at 1200 baud to 57.6 kbaud. No relays: for contact closures, step up to the GC-100-12, or to the wider GC-100-18 and rack-mount GC-100-18R that share its port complement. Home Assistant sends IR through the itach remote platform, which explicitly supports GC-100 adapters as well as iTach units, and reads any port configured as a digital input through the gc100 binary_sensor platform. The two integrations both open a socket to port 4998 and Home Assistant warns they will likely not run concurrently against the same GC-100, so plan on one or the other per unit. Serial is not covered by either integration; the RS-232 port is reachable on TCP port 4999 only from something that speaks the attached device's protocol. Legacy hardware: no longer promoted by Global Caché but still sold through distribution and readily available secondhand.

Hardware availability

Global Caché is rebuilding its website and the per-model product pages are offline as of August 2026, so the purchase links here point at the manufacturer’s North America distributor list. The iTach, iTach Flex, and Global Connect families are current. The GC-100 network adapters are legacy: they are no longer promoted on the manufacturer’s product page but remain widely deployed and are still sold through distribution and the secondary market.
