iTach IP2IR
The iTach IP2IR is the wired TCP/IP to infrared gateway that Home Assistant's itach remote platform is written against. Three selectable IR output or sensor ports let one palm-sized box drive a projector, an AV receiver, and a cable box over Ethernet, entirely locally on TCP port 4998.
Works on integrations
Three independent 3.5mm ports, each selectable as an IR output or a sensor input. Three IR emitters ship in the box plus one IR blaster, which is supported on the third port only. Power is a 5 to 16V DC adapter or the included USB cable; the IP2IR-P is the same unit with 802.3af PoE, which is the one to spec when the gateway sits in a rack or above a ceiling. Home Assistant configures it in YAML under the `remote` platform with `host`, `port` (4998), and a `devices` list, where `connaddr` is the IR port (1 to 3) and `modaddr` is 1. Commands must be supplied as Pronto hex, which the integration converts to Global Caché's own format; the built-in IR learner and Global Caché's Control Tower database are the usual sources. IR is one-way, so the integration is assumed-state: Home Assistant sends the command and never learns whether the device acted on it. The unit accepts eight simultaneous TCP connections, so Home Assistant can share it with a control processor.
Hardware availability
Global Caché is rebuilding its website and the per-model product pages are offline as of August 2026, so the purchase links here point at the manufacturer’s North America distributor list. The iTach, iTach Flex, and Global Connect families are current. The GC-100 network adapters are legacy: they are no longer promoted on the manufacturer’s product page but remain widely deployed and are still sold through distribution and the secondary market.
