Global Caché
iTach IP2SL
The iTach IP2SL puts a single RS-232 device on a wired network, exposing its serial port as a raw TCP socket on port 4999. Home Assistant has no Global Caché serial integration, so it reaches the port through whichever integration already speaks that device's protocol over a socket.
One male DB9 port, 1200 baud to 115.2 kbaud, odd/even/none parity, bi-directional with hardware RTS/CTS flow control. Power is a 5 to 16V DC adapter or the included USB cable, and the IP2SL-P is the same unit with 802.3af PoE. The serial stream lives on TCP port 4999 while port 4998 stays reserved for the Global Caché configuration API. Home Assistant support is the caveat to plan around: neither the itach nor the gc100 integration covers serial, so the IP2SL is only useful when the integration for the attached device accepts a network socket, either directly or through a pyserial `socket://host:4999` URL. Verify that before specifying one. Projector, matrix switcher, and older AV receiver protocols that Home Assistant does not model at all are usually better served by an IP2IR on the same equipment, or by a custom integration.
Hardware availability
Global Caché is rebuilding its website and the per-model product pages are offline as of August 2026, so the purchase links here point at the manufacturer’s North America distributor list. The iTach, iTach Flex, and Global Connect families are current. The GC-100 network adapters are legacy: they are no longer promoted on the manufacturer’s product page but remain widely deployed and are still sold through distribution and the secondary market.
