iTach WF2SL

The iTach WF2SL is the Wi-Fi version of the IP2SL RS-232 gateway, bridging one serial device onto the network without a cable run. It carries the same DB9 port and the same TCP socket on port 4999, and the same Home Assistant caveat: there is no Global Caché serial integration.

Protocols
Same serial interface as the IP2SL: male DB9, 1200 baud to 115.2 kbaud, hardware flow control, serial stream on TCP port 4999 with the configuration API on 4998. The radio is 802.11b/g, so it needs a 2.4 GHz SSID. Home Assistant has no integration for Global Caché serial ports, so the WF2SL only pays off when the integration for the attached device can open a network socket, including through a pyserial `socket://host:4999` URL. Choose the wired IP2SL for anything that polls: TCP hides packet loss by retransmitting, but the added latency lands on bi-directional serial protocols that expect a reply within a fixed window, and a response that arrives late reads as a device fault rather than as a network problem.

Hardware availability

Global Caché is rebuilding its website and the per-model product pages are offline as of August 2026, so the purchase links here point at the manufacturer’s North America distributor list. The iTach, iTach Flex, and Global Connect families are current. The GC-100 network adapters are legacy: they are no longer promoted on the manufacturer’s product page but remain widely deployed and are still sold through distribution and the secondary market.
