Hi Kumo Wi-Fi adapter (SPX-WFG01)
The SPX-WFG01 adapter is what puts a Hitachi air-to-air heat pump on the Hi Kumo platform. One adapter goes into each indoor unit, the Hi Kumo app pairs up to ten of them, and Home Assistant reads the same units as climate entities through the Overkiz integration. Its replacement, the SPX-WFG02, is an airCloud Home adapter and does not reach Home Assistant this way.

Per indoor unit, not per house: a three-head system needs three adapters, which is the first thing to price when a client asks for their existing Hitachi split to be automated. The adapter fits inside the indoor unit and replaces the handset as the primary control path, giving setpoint, mode, and fan speed from the app or from Home Assistant. This adapter is the air-to-air path specifically; the Hi Kumo app also fronts hot water and pool equipment, but that gear is commissioned through its own interfaces rather than through an SPX-WFG01. Everything is cloud: Hi Kumo has no local API, and climate entities are the part of Overkiz that the local API does not carry in any case, so a heat pump on this platform is only as reachable as the internet connection. The model number is the check that matters before quoting: SPX-WFG01 is Hi Kumo and therefore Overkiz, while the newer SPX-WFG02 puts the unit on airCloud Home, a different Hitachi cloud with no Home Assistant integration of its own.
Hardware availability
Hi Kumo is cloud only in Home Assistant, and climate entities are the part of Overkiz that the local API does not carry anyway, so a Hitachi install is dependent on the Overkiz cloud by design. Hitachi’s newer residential ranges ship with airCloud rather than Hi Kumo, on the newer SPX-WFG02 adapter instead of the SPX-WFG01, and airCloud is not an Overkiz platform, so check the adapter model and which app a unit was commissioned on before assuming this integration covers it.
