The PowerView Gen 3 Gateway bridges Gen 3 shades to the local network over Wi-Fi or Ethernet. It is the device Home Assistant actually talks to, and it is required for any PowerView automation.

Setup guides
Order it through the Hunter Douglas dealer along with the shades; there is no retail product page for it. Home Assistant auto-discovers the gateway on the network and pulls every paired shade in behind it, so shades are never added one by one. Gen 3 shades report position changes back to the gateway on their own, which keeps Home Assistant in sync when someone uses a remote or the app. Gen 3 also exposes a velocity number per shade to slow or speed up travel. The older Gen 1 and Gen 2 PowerView Hub still works, but its Pebble remotes do not report position, so states drift until an entity is refreshed. Wire the gateway to Ethernet where the rack allows it.
