The Gen 2 Red Series Dimmer (LZW31-SN) is a discontinued Z-Wave 500 series in-wall dimmer with an RGB notification LED bar, multi-tap scene control and energy reporting. It is the direct ancestor of the Red Series 2-1 Switch and is still supported locally by Z-Wave JS.

Discontinued and superseded by the VZW31-SN, but a very large installed base is still in walls. Z-Wave 500 series at 908.42 MHz, so no Long Range and no S2 SmartStart speed of the 800 series parts. A neutral is recommended and is required for some multi-way wiring; no-neutral installs need a bypass on low-wattage loads. Load limits derate by gang: 400W incandescent, 300W LED and 150W CFL single-gang, less in a double or triple. Reports power and energy through the meter command class, drives up to seven multi-tap scenes per paddle plus one on the config button, and the RGB LED bar takes animated notifications. Smart bulb mode keeps the load hot when the dimmer is fronting smart bulbs. No retail page remains; the manual lives on the Inovelli help center.
