The Konnected GDO blaQ connects to a Chamberlain or LiftMaster garage door opener with two wires and puts the door, the opener light, and the remote lockout into Home Assistant over the local network, without the myQ app or cloud.
The GDO blaQ works with Security+ and Security+ 2.0 openers sold since 1997 under the Chamberlain, LiftMaster, Craftsman, and Merlin brands, which have a red, purple, or round yellow learn button. Newer Security+ 3.0 openers, with a round white learn button, are not compatible. Two wires go to the opener’s wall button terminals, and the board talks to the opener directly, so there are no extra door sensors to mount.
It runs ESPHome, and Home Assistant discovers it on the network. Home Assistant gets the door with open, close, and stop, the opener light, a lock that turns the handheld remotes off, and sensors for obstruction, motion, the motor and the wall button, plus a count of door openings. Before any automatic close, it flashes its LED and sounds a warning tone, which US rules for garage door openers require before a door closes with nobody at the controls.
Some Merlin openers only respond to a single toggle command. For those, turn on the Toggle Only switch in Home Assistant.
