The Zigbee 3.0 Kwikset SmartCode 916 puts a capacitive touchscreen on the direct-join Zigbee deadbolt formula: it pairs straight to ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT with 30 user codes and keypad events, no hub or cloud involved.

Same electronics family as the Zigbee 914 (Zigbee2MQTT covers both with one converter), so Home Assistant gets lock and unlock, battery, pin_code management, and keypad user events. The touchscreen trades the 914's physical keys for a cleaner look. Pair it close to the coordinator: some coordinators see it join and immediately leave, and proximity plus a retry resolves it. Note the model history: the Z-Wave 916 is discontinued, but this Zigbee 3.0 generation is current and sold by Kwikset. Four AA batteries, SmartKey re-key.
