The Caséta Smart Bridge is the hub Caséta dimmers, switches, and Pico remotes pair to for app and network control. Home Assistant reaches it over Ethernet through the lutron_caseta integration, so a Caséta job needs one on the list.

Protocols
Caséta runs on Clear Connect, not Zigbee or Z-Wave, so no coordinator stick reaches these devices: the bridge is the only way Home Assistant sees them. The hardware itself does not need it to function, since a Caséta dimmer still works at the wall and still pairs to a Pico remote and a motion sensor on its own, which is why a job can be specified without one and only fail once someone expects automation. It sits on the LAN over Ethernet (no Wi-Fi), and the lutron_caseta integration pairs to it by certificate after a press of the button on the back, then holds a local push connection. Control stays local once paired; the Lutron app's remote access is a separate cloud path Home Assistant does not need. Handles up to 75 Caséta devices. Lutron now sells this as the Caséta Smart Hub, with L-BDG2-WH unchanged. Specify one per job, and the PRO (L-BDGPRO2-WH) instead only when the job needs what the PRO adds.
