RTS
Radio Technology Somfy is the one-way radio behind most Somfy motors ever sold. It is cheap, universal, and stateless: Home Assistant can command an RTS shade but never learns where it stopped, which is the single most important constraint in retrofitting existing motorized shading.
Radio Technology Somfy, always written RTS, is the 433.42 MHz radio Somfy has shipped in tubular motors for decades. A
remote, a wall switch, or a gateway transmits open, close, stop, or the motor’s stored my position, and nothing comes
back. It is the reason a house full of motorized shades can be integrated in an afternoon, and the reason the resulting
cover entities have to be treated as commands rather than readings.
Strengths
- Enormous installed base. Most existing Somfy shades, awnings, and shutters are RTS, so a retrofit usually needs a gateway rather than new motors.
- Cheap per opening. RTS motors cost less than their io-homecontrol equivalents, which is why fabricators default to them.
- Many control points. A single motor accepts a dozen paired transmitters, so handsets, wall switches, sun sensors, and a gateway can coexist without arguing.
- The
myposition. One favourite intermediate position is stored in the motor itself, so a scene can reach a half-open slat angle even though nothing else about the motor is readable.
Trade-offs
- No feedback, ever. RTS is one-way, so Home Assistant cannot track an RTS cover’s state after controlling it. Its own documentation’s answer is a template cover holding an optimistic open or closed state next to the real one, which is right exactly as long as every command gets through.
- Assumed state spreads. Any automation that branches on a cover’s position is really branching on whatever state was assumed for it, so sun-tracking and occupancy logic drift over a day.
- No battery or diagnostics. A battery RTS motor reports no level, so charge state lives on a maintenance schedule rather than in a sensor.
- Reversed motors happen. A motor wired or programmed in reverse presents as up when it is down, which is fixed per device in the integration’s options rather than at the motor.
RTS in Home Assistant
RTS reaches Home Assistant through a gateway: Overkiz for Somfy TaHoma and Connexoon RTS boxes and for the white-label Overkiz vendors, or Somfy MyLink for the older North American myLink bridge. Both give covers without state. Where a scene genuinely depends on a shade’s position, the answer is either an io-homecontrol or Zigbee motor that reports, or an independent sensor that does; in a Selora install RTS is treated as a control path for existing hardware, not as the basis for state-dependent automation.
Devices on RTS

Flexom Box
The Flexom box is the Overkiz gateway Bouygues Immobilier installs in its new-build apartments and houses. It is multiprotocol, bridging io-homecontrol shutters, EnOcean lighting, RTS equipment, and Z-Wave devices, and Home Assistant reaches all of it through the Overkiz integration with Bouygues Flexom as the server.

HexaConnect Gateway
The HexaConnect gateway is the Overkiz DIN-rail box Hexaom fits into a new house at construction, in the electrical or communication panel. It runs the HexaConnect app's shutters, lighting, and heating, and Home Assistant reaches the same devices through the Overkiz integration with Hexaom HexaConnect as the server.

Eugénie Box
The Eugénie box is the DIN-rail Overkiz controller Nexity fits into an apartment's electrical panel during construction, driving the shutters, lighting, heating, smoke detection, and energy monitoring the Eugénie app shows. Home Assistant reaches the same devices through the Overkiz integration with Nexity Eugénie as the server.

Energeasy Connect V3 (RXCE.CONNECT3)
The Energeasy Connect V3 controller (RXCE.CONNECT3) is Rexel's plug-in multiprotocol gateway on the Overkiz platform, combining io-homecontrol, RTS, and Zigbee. It is one of the few Overkiz gateways Home Assistant can drive over the local API instead of the cloud.

Energeasy Connect V3 Rail Din (RXCKITMOD3)
The Energeasy Connect V3 Rail Din (RXCKITMOD3) is the DIN-rail version of Rexel's multiprotocol controller: the same io-homecontrol, RTS, and Zigbee radios and the same Home Assistant local API support, in a module that mounts in the consumer unit.

LiveIn2 Box
The LiveIn2 box is Simu's Overkiz gateway for its own Hz and bidirectional BHz radio, the protocols its shutter and awning motors use instead of io-homecontrol. It is discontinued, replaced by Somfy's TaHoma switch, and Home Assistant still supports it through the Overkiz integration over the cloud.

Altus 40 RTS
Altus 40 RTS is Somfy's workhorse mains tubular motor for roller shutters, exterior blinds, louvres, and projection screens, with the RTS receiver built in. It is everywhere, it is cheap to specify, and it is one-way: Home Assistant can command it but never learns where it stopped.

Connexoon RTS
Connexoon RTS is the RTS-only version of the Connexoon box, sold for homes whose blinds and awnings predate io-homecontrol. Home Assistant supports it through Overkiz, cloud or local, but everything behind it is one-way.

Glydea Ultra 60 RTS
Glydea Ultra 60 is Somfy's curtain track motor for heavy drapery, quiet enough for a bedroom and strong enough for 132 lb of fabric on a 36 ft run. The RTS version is the one most fabricators ship, and it reaches Home Assistant through a TaHoma, Connexoon RTS, or myLink gateway.

myLink
myLink is the North American RTS bridge Somfy sold before TaHoma, and it is the one Somfy product that does not go through Overkiz: Home Assistant talks to it with the dedicated Somfy MyLink integration over the local network. It is obsolete hardware that is still worth supporting, because the installed base is large.

Sonesse 30 WireFree RTS (Li-ion)
The Sonesse 30 WireFree RTS is Somfy's battery interior shade motor: a 12 V lithium-ion pack inside the tube, about one recharge a year, and no cable to pull. It is the answer for a retrofit where running power to a window is not an option, at the cost of RTS being one-way.

TaHoma Beecon
The TaHoma Beecon is the RTS and Zigbee hub Somfy sells in North America, where it is marketed as the TaHoma gateway under reference 1811731. Home Assistant supports it through Overkiz, including the local API, and treats it the same way it treats a TaHoma switch.

TaHoma switch
TaHoma switch is Somfy's current hub and the one to specify for a new install, because it is a multiprotocol gateway that Home Assistant can drive over the local API instead of the Somfy cloud. It ships in two regional variants, and which radios are inside depends on which one was bought.

TaHoma v2
TaHoma v2 is the previous generation Somfy box, superseded by the TaHoma switch but still in thousands of homes. It is worth knowing because Home Assistant supports it over the local API, so an older installation does not have to be replaced to get local control.

WizzBox
The WizzBox is the Overkiz DIN-rail gateway Ubiwizz sells to electrical installers, bridging EnOcean, io-homecontrol, RTS, and Z-Wave equipment from one module in the communication panel. Home Assistant reaches it through the Overkiz integration with Ubiwizz as the server.
