IQ Panel 2+

The IQ Panel 2+ is the previous-generation Qolsys touchscreen security panel, still installed in many homes with Alarm.com monitoring. Home Assistant pairs with it locally through the Qolsys Panel integration, the same way it pairs with newer IQ panels, and gets arming, alarm state, and every zone in real time.

Roles it can fill

Qolsys has replaced the IQ Panel 2+ twice over, first with the IQ Panel 4 and now the IQ Panel 5, so plan new installs on the 5. An IQ Panel 2+ already on the wall doesn’t need replacing to join Home Assistant: the Qolsys Panel integration supports it through the same IQ Remote pairing, with the same installer code and same-subnet requirement during pairing.

Once paired, the connection is local push. Each partition becomes an alarm control panel with arm home, away, and night, and every zone reports open, closed, tamper, and battery state. The panel’s Z-Wave devices and scenes come through as well. Some newer features depend on panel firmware, such as silent disarming, which needs 4.6.1, so update the panel through the dealer before pairing.

The panel stays the security system of record. Monitoring, the siren, and the battery backup keep working if Home Assistant is down. A panel installed by another dealer is usually locked, and that dealer has to unlock it through the Alarm.com Partner Portal before Home Assistant can pair.

Hardware availability

Qolsys panels are sold through security dealers and online alarm retailers, usually with an Alarm.com monitoring plan. Pairing Home Assistant needs the panel’s installer code, which a dealer-locked panel does not give out, so confirm the client can get it before quoting the job.
