ESP-TM2 + LNK2
Rain Bird's workhorse residential controller in 4, 6, 8, and 12-station models, made smart by snapping the LNK2 Wi-Fi module into the faceplate. Home Assistant's core Rain Bird integration talks to the module locally: per-zone switches, a rain-sensor binary sensor, schedule calendar, rain delay, and a start-irrigation action with custom runtimes.
Local polling via the LNK/LNK2 module (IP + password, no cloud). The module accepts only one connection at a time, so commands can fail while the Rain Bird mobile app is open. Important: do not migrate to the Rain Bird 2.0 app/firmware. It moves the controller to the IQ4 cloud and Home Assistant loses access. 8-station model runs about $198 plus about $151 for the LNK2 module at the Rain Bird store.
