Device Roles
A device role is what a device does in a Selora AI recipe, not what brand it is. Browse roles to see which devices fill them and which recipes need them.
Contact Sensor
A contact sensor is a small two-piece magnet-and-reed device that reports whether two surfaces are touching. Doors, windows, drawers, and cabinets are the typical targets.
Door Sensor
A door sensor reports when a door or window opens and closes. Selora AI uses door sensors for entry alerts, security arming, and energy savings when openings stay open too long.
Illuminance Sensor
An illuminance sensor measures ambient light level, typically in lux. Selora AI uses it to decide when artificial light is needed and to adjust shades and lighting through the day.
Indoor Siren
An indoor siren is a loud audible alert device used inside the home for security warnings, severe weather alerts, and life safety events. Many models also include a strobe.
Motion Sensor
A motion sensor detects movement through passive infrared (PIR) or microwave radar. It reports motion events and is the most common building block for occupancy automations.
Presence Sensor
A presence sensor detects both motion and stillness using radar or mmWave, so it knows you are in a room even when you are not moving. Often supports configurable zones.
Tilt Sensor
A tilt sensor reports its orientation, typically used to detect whether a garage door, gate, or hatch is open, closed, or partially open.
