A door sensor reports when a door or window opens and closes. Selora AI uses door sensors for entry alerts, security arming, and energy savings when openings stay open too long.

- Entry detection for security recipes (arm, disarm, alert).
- Shelter detection during severe weather warnings, to confirm exterior doors are closed.
- Energy savings by pausing climate control when an exterior door has been open too long.
- Occupancy hints when paired with a motion or presence sensor.
Picking a door sensor
Most installers pick a Zigbee model on ZHA or zigbee2mqtt for reliable local control and clean battery reporting. Wi-Fi sensors work but tend to drain batteries faster and depend on the vendor cloud. Look for tilt detection if you also want to monitor garage doors.
