Illuminance Sensor

An illuminance sensor measures ambient light level, typically in lux. Selora AI uses it to decide when artificial light is needed and to adjust shades and lighting through the day.

Most modern motion and presence sensors include an illuminance channel, so a dedicated standalone illuminance sensor is rarely necessary. Outdoor lighting and shade automations are the main case where a dedicated outdoor lux sensor still earns its place.

How Selora AI uses illuminance sensors

  • Adaptive lighting that turns on only when ambient light drops below a threshold.
  • Shade and blind control to balance daylight with glare and heat gain.
  • Wake-up and sunset routines that align with actual conditions rather than fixed clock times.
