Smoke Detector

A smoke detector senses smoke and fire and raises an alarm. Connected to Home Assistant, it can trigger whole-home alerts, unlock escape routes, and notify occupants and installers instantly.

A connected smoke detector reports fire and smoke events to Home Assistant in addition to sounding its own alarm. That lets a single detector drive actions across the whole home rather than just alerting the room it sits in.

How Selora AI uses smoke detectors

  • Whole-home alerts that flash every light and sound every siren when one detector fires.
  • Escape assistance that unlocks doors and opens motorized exits along an escape route.
  • Remote notification to occupants who are away and to the installer for monitored sites.

Safety note

A smoke detector is a life-safety device. Its local alarm must keep working independently of Home Assistant and the network; use automations as an added layer on top of, not in place of, the built-in alarm.
