The RF29DB9900QD is Samsung's 29 cu. ft. Bespoke 4-Door Flex refrigerator with a 32-inch AI Family Hub+ touchscreen, AI Vision Inside camera, and Auto Open Door. Home Assistant reaches it only through the SmartThings cloud, which becomes a paid API from October 2026, so the screen and the camera stay Samsung features rather than automation inputs.

since September 2026Home Assistant reaches Samsung appliances only through the SmartThings cloud API, and Samsung is putting that API behind a paid plan from October 2026, so door alerts and setpoints on a fridge the client already owns turn into a recurring subscription.
There is no local path to Samsung refrigerators. Free SmartThings API access ends in October 2026: individual developers move to a $4.99/month plan and commercial use moves to separate paid tiers, so the fridge's automations come to depend both on a subscription and on Samsung's cloud staying up. The Family Hub screen and AI Vision camera add nothing on the Home Assistant side. Where the client wants a kitchen screen, pair an LG ThinQ refrigerator with a separate display such as a Nest Hub running a Home Assistant dashboard.
The smartthings integration is cloud push and needs the client’s Samsung account authorized through OAuth. It exposes door contact sensors, temperature sensors, number entities for the fridge and freezer setpoints, Power Cool and Power Freeze switches, water filter status with a reset button, and an energy sensor. Samsung models the compartments as separate components, and on some firmware only the main one reports, so check the freezer entities during commissioning rather than assuming them.
The 32-inch screen runs Samsung’s own Family Hub software and cannot show a Home Assistant dashboard in any supported way. AI Vision food tracking and Auto Open Door have no entities either.
The built-in SmartThings hub has Zigbee, Thread, and Matter radios. Leave it unused: devices joined to it are reachable only through the same paid cloud API, so pair everything to the Selora Hub instead.
