A Silicon Labs EFR32MG24 radio on a rotatable +5 dB external antenna, driven by an ESP32-S3 that carries the Ethernet (10/100), Wi-Fi, and USB-C sides and runs SLZB-OS. Power it from 802.3af PoE or USB-C at 5V. 160mm by 24mm by 28mm, 86g, wall mountable, so the radio sits where coverage is good and reaches Home Assistant over the LAN rather than from a USB port next to an SSD. The MG24 is the Thread half of the line: the web UI switches the radio between a Zigbee coordinator on ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT, a Zigbee router, and a Matter-over-Thread border router without a reflash. One protocol at a time, so where a design needs a Zigbee mesh and a Thread border router together, specify the SLZB-MR3U or a second adapter. The SMLIGHT SLZB integration surfaces firmware version, uptime, and radio diagnostics, and firmware updates are one click in the web UI. For a Zigbee-only install the Texas Instruments SLZB-06p7U has the longer Zigbee track record.
