TaHoma Beecon
The TaHoma Beecon is the RTS and Zigbee hub Somfy sells in North America, where it is marketed as the TaHoma gateway under reference 1811731. Home Assistant supports it through Overkiz, including the local API, and treats it the same way it treats a TaHoma switch.
One product with two names is the main source of confusion here: Home Assistant and the Overkiz library call this gateway the TaHoma Beecon, while Somfy's North American store sells the same 1811731 hardware as the TaHoma gateway. There is no io-homecontrol radio in it, so every cover behind it is either Zigbee or RTS, and the RTS ones are stateless: they take open, close, and stop, and report no position back. That makes the Beecon a fine choice for retrofitting existing RTS shades and a poor choice for anything that needs a shade's real position in a condition. It supports the same local API as the rest of the current TaHoma line, unlocked by tapping the PIN seven times in the app's developer mode, with the same two limits: no scenarios or climate entities locally, and an execution queue of around ten commands on the gateway itself. Sold through Somfy dealers and the Somfy store rather than general retail.
Hardware availability
TaHoma switch is the current hub in both Europe and North America, in two regional variants: the European unit adds io-homecontrol to RTS and Zigbee, the North American unit is RTS and Zigbee only because io-homecontrol is not sold there. TaHoma v2 and the Connexoon boxes are no longer marketed, and Somfy’s own product page labels the Connexoon box discontinued, but both stay supported by Home Assistant and both still answer the local API. Somfy myLink is listed obsolete on the Somfy store. Motors are ordered through Somfy dealers and shade fabricators rather than retail, so several of the links below are manufacturer product pages rather than storefronts.
