A smart electrical panel with 32 controllable circuits that replaces the home's main panel. It meters every circuit to revenue accuracy and can switch any of them from an app. Home Assistant connects to it over the local network through SPAN's own API and gets each circuit's power, energy, and on/off control in real time.
The MAIN 32 takes the place of the existing breaker panel, with a 100 to 200 A main breaker and 32 circuit spaces that SPAN meters and switches one by one. A SPAN Authorized Installer fits it. With a home battery, the homeowner picks which circuits stay on during an outage.
Home Assistant connects through the SPAN Panel integration from HACS. It uses SPAN’s local API, which pushes changes as they happen. Every circuit reports its power and energy, the whole home’s grid import and export feed the energy dashboard, and solar and battery power come through when they are installed. Circuits the homeowner can switch get an on/off control, but always-on, solar, and EV charger circuits do not.
Pairing needs the panel passphrase from the SPAN app, or three openings of the panel door. The panel needs current firmware. By default, automations cannot switch circuits, so turn on control without a logged-in user if a recipe has to. SPAN’s API is still a public beta, and SPAN warns that it was not built for an app to make its own load-shedding decisions, so leave backup priorities to the panel.
