Two independent smart switches in one box for bringing three way runs under app and recipe control. The on/off answer for exhaust fans, closet lights and stair runs that the single pole KS205 cannot cover.
The kit is a two-pack of complete, independent switches rather than a main and satellite pair like the KS230 KIT: each HS210 carries its own Wi-Fi radio and arrives in Home Assistant as its own switch entity. A three way run can be made smart by fitting one HS210 and leaving the existing conventional switch at the other location, or by fitting both, in which case they track each other but still show up as two devices; either way the spare can go to a different circuit, which makes the kit useful stock to carry. Follow the wiring flow in the Kasa app for the box you are actually in, because which common wire lands where depends on the run. On/off only with no dimming, so it is the right control for exhaust fans, garage and closet fixtures and any non dimmable LED, where the KS230 KIT would be the wrong part. Neutral required at the smart switch, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, no hub, and the HS210 is on the Home Assistant tplink integration's supported list for local polling.
