The UniFi G6 Instant is a palm-sized 4K camera with two-way audio that runs on Wi-Fi and USB-C power out of the box, or on wired PoE with an optional adapter. Home Assistant's local UniFi Protect integration exposes its stream, speaker, and smart detection events.

Roles it can fill
The retrofit and add-on-room camera: 1/1.8-inch 8MP sensor at 4K/30, two-way audio, and the full G6 detection set (person, vehicle, animal, plus face and license-plate recognition) from a 7W camera that runs off the included 5V 2A USB-C adapter. Wi-Fi is the default, but the optional PoE-to-USB-C adapter (plus its separate PoE-to-USB-C cable) carries Gigabit Ethernet as well as power, turning it into a wired PoE camera where a drop already exists and taking it off the wireless network entirely. Read the weather rating carefully before quoting it as outdoor: IPX5 and IK04 handle splashes and a sheltered porch, not driven rain on an exposed wall, and IR reaches only 6m. Requires a UniFi Protect console with a local admin account.
