The UNVR Instant is a compact UniFi Protect recorder with its own six-port PoE switch built in, so a small camera job needs one box and one power outlet. Home Assistant's unifiprotect integration connects to it locally.

The console that fits a house rather than a rack: desktop or DIN rail, one 3.5-inch bay, and six PoE downlink ports so the cameras plug straight into the recorder with no separate switch. Read the PoE budget before quoting it, since it is the constraint that bites: 40 W total and 15.4 W per port, standard PoE with no PoE+, so higher-draw cameras need their power elsewhere. Ubiquiti rates it at 15 cameras, or 6 at 4K, and the HDMI port drives a viewport display directly. The drive is not included. The unifiprotect integration connects over the LAN to the console. Full access needs a local UniFi OS user created on the console itself plus a Protect API key; an API key alone works but exposes a subset of the entities. Ubiquiti SSO cloud accounts do not work either way.
