Mi Robot Vacuum
The original 2016 Mi Robot Vacuum, the model that made local Home Assistant control of robot vacuums possible. Driven by the Xiaomi Miio integration over the device token, it runs entirely on the LAN. A dependable fallback on the used market.
Tier 1, local. This first-generation Mi Robot Vacuum (model id rockrobo.vacuum.v1) is controlled by Home Assistant's Xiaomi Miio integration (IoT class local polling). Setup needs the device token, extracted once via the Mi Home app or a cloud-token extractor; after that, all control and status run over the LAN. The vacuum entity exposes start, pause, stop, return_to_base, clean_spot, locate, set_fan_speed, and send_command. It navigates by LiDAR, but as a gen-1 robot it predates named room segments, so target cleaning is done with zoned coordinates via send_command rather than mapped Home Assistant areas. Long discontinued and now a used-market buy, it remains a dependable, private option. Newer Roborock-built units (S6, S6 MaxV) on the same Xiaomi Miio path add segment cleaning, and rooting a supported robot with Valetudo is the fully cloud-free option.
