The Yale Smart Lock with Matter is a native Matter over Thread deadbolt Home Assistant controls locally (no module, no bridge, no Yale cloud) with PIN code management handled natively through the Matter integration.

Roles it can fill
Successor to the Nest x Yale lock and marketed for Google Home, but Matter means it works just as well with Home Assistant. Needs a Thread border router and a Matter controller; HA then gets local lock and unlock, battery, and native Matter lock user and PIN credential management (Home Assistant 2026.4 or newer). Runs up to a year on four AA batteries. The retrofit Yale Approach is a Wi-Fi lock on the Yale Access cloud, not a local alternative.
