Apple TV Integration Setup
Connect Apple TVs to Home Assistant with PIN-based pairing, including the AirPlay access settings that make the pairing codes appear.
Apple TV devices connect to Home Assistant through the built-in Apple TV integration over the local network. No account credentials are needed; pairing is done with PIN codes shown on the TV.
Before You Start
Confirm the following before you begin:
- The Apple TV is on the same network as Home Assistant.
- AirPlay is enabled on the Apple TV.
Step 1: Add the Apple TV Integration
- In Home Assistant, go to Settings > Devices & Services.
- If the Apple TV was discovered automatically, select it under Discovered. Otherwise, select Add Integration and search for Apple TV.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. Pairing happens per protocol, so you may be asked for more than one PIN code shown on the TV screen.
Step 2: If No PIN Code Appears
If Home Assistant asks for a PIN but nothing shows on the TV:
- On the Apple TV, go to Settings > AirPlay and HomeKit.
- Set access to Everyone on the Same Network.
- If that does not help, open the Home app on an iPhone or iPad, go to Home Settings > Speakers & TV, and change access to Everyone.
- Retry the pairing in Home Assistant.
Step 3: Verify the Device
The Apple TV appears as a media player with playback controls and a remote entity for navigation commands.
