Set Up HomePod Speakers
Change the Apple Home speaker access setting so Selora can add your HomePod and HomePod mini speakers for announcements and audio.
HomePod and HomePod mini speakers connect to Selora over AirPlay on the local network. By default, Apple Home only lets people who share the home stream to its speakers, so Selora cannot add them until you open up that access.
Before You Start
Confirm the following before you begin:
- The HomePod is set up in the Home app and on the same network as the Selora Hub.
- You have an iPhone or iPad signed in to the Apple account that manages the home.
Step 1: Allow Speaker Access
- On your iPhone, open the Home app.
- Tap ⋯ (or the house icon), then Home Settings, then Speakers & TV.
- Set Allow Speaker & TV Access to Anyone on the Same Network or Everyone, with no password.
The setting applies to every HomePod and Apple TV in the home, so you only need to change it once.
Step 2: Add the HomePod
Ask Selora to set up the HomePod again. It appears as a media player that Selora can use for announcements, text-to-speech, and volume control.
