August/Yale Lock Integration Setup
Connect August and Yale smart locks and doorbells to Home Assistant using your account credentials and a verification code.
August and Yale smart locks and doorbells connect to Home Assistant through the built-in August integration using your account username and password, plus a verification code sent to your email or phone.
Before You Start
Confirm the following before you begin:
- The lock or doorbell is set up and working in the August app.
- You have the August account username and password available.
- You can receive the verification code sent to the account’s email address or phone number.
- Most devices need an August Connect Bridge or an August Doorbell to reach Home Assistant. Devices with built-in WiFi, such as the August Wi-Fi Smart Lock (Gen 4), do not need a bridge.
Step 1: Add the August Integration
- In Home Assistant, go to Settings > Devices & Services.
- If August was discovered automatically, select it under Discovered. Otherwise, select Add Integration and search for August.
- Sign in with the August account credentials.
- Enter the verification code sent to the account’s email address or phone number.
Step 2: Verify the Devices
Once connected, your locks and doorbells appear in Home Assistant with lock controls, door sensors (if the lock has DoorSense), and battery sensors.
