DoorBird Integration Setup

Connect a DoorBird video doorbell to Home Assistant by creating a dedicated DoorBird user with the right permissions and configuring event schedules.

Doorbird Doorbell Cameras Security Integrations Setup

DoorBird video doorbells connect to Home Assistant through the built-in DoorBird integration. The integration needs a dedicated DoorBird user with specific permissions, so you will create a new username and password before adding the device.

Before You Start

Confirm the following before you begin:

  1. The DoorBird is installed, powered, and on the same network as Home Assistant.
  2. You have the DoorBird app and administrator credentials for the device.

Step 1: Create a Dedicated DoorBird User

Create a new user for Home Assistant instead of reusing the administrator account:

  1. In the DoorBird app, go to Settings (cog icon) > Administration and log in with the administrator credentials.
  2. In the USER section, select Add.
  3. Create a new username and password for Home Assistant.
  4. Grant the user these permissions:
    • API-Operator (mandatory)
    • Watch Always (for live view)
    • History (for last motion access)
    • Motion (for motion detection)
  5. Save the user.

Step 2: Add the DoorBird Integration

  1. In Home Assistant, go to Settings > Devices & Services.
  2. If the DoorBird was discovered automatically, select it under Discovered. Otherwise, select Add Integration and search for DoorBird.
  3. Enter the DoorBird’s IP address and the username and password you created in Step 1.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Step 3: Configure Event Schedules

The integration automatically creates doorbell and motion events, but they stay inactive until schedules are defined in the DoorBird app:

  1. In the DoorBird app, go to Settings (cog icon) > Administration and log in.
  2. Open EXPERT SETTINGS > Schedule for actions.
  3. Define schedules for the button press and motion events (for example, HTTP(S) Calls for button and motion).
