Lutron Caséta Smart Bridge Setup

This guide walks you through connecting your Lutron Smart Bridge (Caséta) to Home Assistant. You will find the IP address of your Lutron Bridge, add the Lutron Caséta integration, and authenticate using the physical button on the bridge.

Before You Start

Confirm the following before you begin:

1. Your Lutron Bridge is powered on and connected to the network.
2. Home Assistant and the Lutron Bridge are on the same network.
3. You have physical access to the bridge for the authentication step.

Step 1: Find Your Lutron Bridge IP Address

Option 1: Use NetAlertX

NetAlertX is a network scanner that works regardless of the home’s network hardware and can be installed on any Home Assistant instance:

1. Open NetAlertX and review the list of discovered devices.
2. Look for devices named Lutron or Caseta.
3. Copy the IP address for each bridge.

Option 2: Use Your Router

1. Check your router’s device list.
2. Look for Lutron or similar device names.

Step 2: Add the Lutron Caséta Integration

1. In Home Assistant, go to Settings > Devices & Services > Add Integration.
2. Search for Lutron.
3. Select Lutron Caséta.

Step 3: Enter the Bridge Information

1. Enter the IP address of your Lutron Bridge.
2. Click Submit.

Step 4: Authenticate with the Bridge

1. Home Assistant will prompt you to press a button on the bridge.
2. Go to your Lutron Smart Bridge and press the small black button on the back.
3. Return to Home Assistant.
4. Click Submit to continue.

Step 5: Complete the Setup

Home Assistant connects to the bridge and imports your Lutron devices (lights, dimmers, shades, and more) automatically. No manual device setup is required.

Step 6: Repeat for Additional Bridges

If the home has more than one Lutron Bridge, repeat Steps 2 through 5 for each bridge.

Troubleshooting

If the connection fails:

1. Double-check the IP address.
2. Confirm Home Assistant and the bridge are on the same network.
3. Retry the button press step.
