Samsung TV Integration Setup

Connect Samsung smart TVs to Home Assistant over the local network and accept the connection prompt on the TV, with tips to stop repeated permission requests.

Samsung Tv Media Integrations Setup

Samsung smart TVs connect to Home Assistant through the built-in Samsung Smart TV integration over the local network. No account credentials are needed; you approve the connection on the TV itself.

Before You Start

Confirm the following before you begin:

  1. The TV is on the same network, subnet, and VLAN as Home Assistant. Samsung TVs do not allow the integration’s WebSocket connections across different subnets or VLANs.
  2. You know the TV’s IP address, and it has a static IP address or DHCP reservation.

Step 1: Add the Samsung Smart TV Integration

  1. Turn the TV on.
  2. In Home Assistant, go to Settings > Devices & Services.
  3. If the TV was discovered automatically, select it under Discovered. Otherwise, select Add Integration, search for Samsung Smart TV, and enter the TV’s IP address.
  4. When the TV shows a connection permission prompt, select Allow.

Step 2: Stop Repeated Permission Prompts

Newer TVs ask for permission on every connection attempt by default. To fix this:

  1. On the TV, open Device connection manager > Access notification.
  2. Change the setting to First time only.
  3. In Device connection manager > Device list, remove any previous Home Assistant connection attempts.

Step 3: Verify the TV

The TV appears as a media player with power, volume, source, and playback controls.
