TCL TV Integration Setup

TCL smart TVs run either Google TV (Android TV) or Roku TV depending on the model, and the integration path differs between the two. Identify which platform each TV runs, then follow the matching section below. Repeat the setup for every TCL TV in the home.

Before You Start

Confirm the following before you begin:

1. Each TV is connected to the same network as Home Assistant.
2. You know which platform each TV runs. Check the TV’s home screen: Google TV shows the Google TV or Android TV interface, while Roku TV shows the Roku home screen with a channel grid.
3. Each TV has a static IP address or DHCP reservation so it does not change address.

Google TV Models: Android TV Remote

Google TV models use the built-in Android TV Remote integration, which relies on the Android TV Remote Service that is pre-installed on these TVs.

1. Turn the TV on.
2. In Home Assistant, go to Settings > Devices & Services.
3. If the TV was discovered automatically, select it under Discovered. Otherwise, select Add Integration, search for Android TV Remote, and enter the TV’s IP address.
4. A pairing code appears on the TV screen. Enter it in Home Assistant to complete the pairing.

The integration provides a media player with playback and volume controls plus a remote entity for key commands, app launching, and text input.

Roku TV Models: Roku Integration

Roku TV models use the built-in Roku integration.

1. On the TV, enable local control under Settings / System / Advanced / Control by mobile apps / Network access.
2. In Home Assistant, go to Settings > Devices & Services.
3. If the TV was discovered automatically, select it under Discovered. Otherwise, select Add Integration, search for Roku, and enter the TV’s IP address or hostname.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
