Xbox Integration Setup
Connect an Xbox console to Home Assistant by enabling remote features on the console and signing in with a Microsoft account.
Xbox consoles connect to Home Assistant through the built-in Xbox integration. Setup signs in to a Microsoft account (email and password) through an account-linking flow, so no tokens need to be created by hand.
Before You Start
Confirm the following before you begin:
- You have the Microsoft account email and password used on the console. It must be a non-child account (age 18+).
- Remote features are turned on: on the console, go to Settings > Devices & connections > Remote features.
- If you want to wake the console from Home Assistant, set the power mode to sleep instead of the energy-saving mode.
Step 1: Add the Xbox Integration
- In Home Assistant, go to Settings > Devices & Services > Add Integration.
- Search for Xbox and select it.
- Follow the account-linking flow and sign in with the Microsoft account email and password.
- Authorize the connection when prompted.
Step 2: Verify the Entities
Once connected, the integration provides:
- a media player for the console showing the active app or game,
- a remote entity for power control, controller commands, and text input,
- sensors for gamerscore, friends, current title, and storage, and
- binary sensors for online and in-game status.
