Use this procedure during on-site device installation before finalizing any device location or mounting decision.
Device Placement Verification
For each device, verify:
- The final location matches the installation plan, project plan, and the customer’s expectations.
- The physical placement supports signal, usability, and safety.
- Mounting and wiring placement follow manufacturer requirements and local building codes.
General Requirements
- When installing powered devices near an outlet, make sure the wires are as hidden and tucked away as possible.
- When installing anything directly to house electrical, follow all NEC guidelines.
- When mounting anything to walls, use a stud or suitable drywall screws.
- Keep all devices, cables, and mounts level, secure, and visually clean.
- Do not block outlets, switches, vents, doors, windows, or required service access.
- Follow manufacturer installation instructions for every device.
- Verify the device has reliable power, signal, and network coverage before finalizing placement.
- Test each device after installation before moving to the next one.
- Follow the device’s initial setup process, including instructing the customer to download and sign up for any service necessary as described in the project’s installation plan.
- Do not leave exposed low-voltage wiring, loose adapters, or unsecured power supplies.
- Make sure battery-powered devices are installed with fresh batteries and correct battery orientation.
- If a placement, wiring condition, or safety issue looks questionable, stop and escalate to a Selora Homes Customer Support Engineer before proceeding.
- Clean up packaging, dust, wire scraps, and install debris before leaving the area.
