What to Expect During Onboarding

What happens after you buy your first Selora Hub, from the welcome email through your first install day.

Installer Onboarding Selora-Hub Selora-Connect Getting-Started

Onboarding is how we get you from a new Selora Hub on your bench to running Selora on a real job. It is two or three working sessions with someone from our team, scheduled around your calendar.

Before Your First Session

A few things happen without you needing to do anything.

  • Your Selora Connect account is created for you when you buy your first hub. You do not need to register separately. Watch for the credentials.
  • Your hub ships and you get tracking.
  • You get an introduction by email with a link to book your onboarding sessions. If you email us first, you will hear back within one business day.

Book your sessions for the week your hub arrives. You need the hardware in front of you for the first one.

What to Have Ready

For the first session:

  • Your Selora Hub, still boxed is fine.
  • A wired network connection for it.
  • A computer with a browser to follow along in Selora Connect.

Session 1: Your Business and Your First Hub

The first half is us learning how you work. Your service area, what you install today, the stack you are coming from, and who your first Selora customer is likely to be.

The second half is setting up the hub you just bought. Together we will:

  1. Unbox it, place it, connect it, and power it on.
  2. Claim it to your profile in Selora Connect and walk through Home Assistant onboarding.
  3. Turn on Selora AI and set up your remote access.

By the end, your hub shows as healthy in your dashboard and you can reach it from anywhere. The hub is yours. Keep it as a bench unit and a demo system.

Session 2: Selora Connect

Your installer profile

Business details, logo, and service area. You pick your skills from our taxonomy, covering lighting, shades, home cinema, multiroom audio, security, HVAC, solar, and network. We will show you how the public installer directory listing works and what homeowners see.

Projects

How to create a project for a customer, set it up as a new install or an upgrade, and attach a timeline and budget. You can upload floor plans and Control4 exports directly into the project.

The installation manifest

The room-by-room record of what is in scope. Floors and rooms, devices added from our catalog or entered by hand, integrations, automation requests, and the dashboard layout. The manifest becomes the installation plan you work from on site.

By the end, you will have built an example project and populated a manifest.

Session 3: Install Day

The last session runs during an actual install, either your first client or a demo system you set up yourself. You are on site and we support you remotely.

Before you go

We review the installation plan together and confirm you have your tools, materials, dongles, and installer media, plus the number to reach your Customer Support Engineer.

On site

You place and power the hub and claim it to your customer’s profile. Then you call your support engineer, who sets up Secure Network Node access, gets your customer onto remote access and the Companion App, and installs whatever integrations the job needs. Protocol devices get paired one at a time with support on the line. For integrations that need vendor logins or MFA, we will ask your customer to join for a few minutes.

Before you leave

You walk your customer through what was built and show them how to request support themselves in Selora Connect.

By the end, every device is either working or written up as blocked with a next action, and your customer can log in on their own.

After Onboarding

From here you open projects on your own and reach support the normal way. Installer requests are handled ahead of standard queues.
