Selora Homes works with independent smart home installers and consultants to bring professionally managed Home Assistant deployments to homeowners. We provide the platform — remote access, backups, monitoring, and AI-powered tooling — so you can focus on client relationships and field work.
Who This Is For
Full-Stack Installers
You handle the full lifecycle: sales, site survey, physical installation, and ongoing client support. You deploy SeloraBoxes (or install our software on compatible hardware) and your clients become Selora subscribers. Selora gives you a management layer on top of every deployment — remote access, health monitoring, backups, and AI — without building that infrastructure yourself.
This path is a fit if you run a local smart home business and want to scale beyond what you can support manually.
Remote-Only Consultants
You configure, troubleshoot, and build automations for people who already have Home Assistant running. You work via freelance platforms, your own remote practice, or contract work. Your clients already own the hardware — they need expertise, not a new box.
For you, Selora AI is the primary tool. Install it on any Home Assistant instance via HACS , and use it to speed up client work — proactive automation suggestions, natural language control, and pattern detection across devices. No SeloraBox or subscription required to get started.
Partnership Routes
Independent (Platform-Only)
You use Selora’s software infrastructure — remote access, backups, monitoring, and AI — to manage Home Assistant deployments for your own clients. You own the client relationship entirely. Selora is the platform layer running behind the scenes.
This route gives you access to the same tools as the managed model, but you handle all client-facing communication, support, and billing yourself. How you package and price the service to your clients is up to you.
Managed Install (Selora-Branded)
Your client is onboarded as a Selora Homes customer. You handle the physical installation and any on-site work. Selora handles ongoing software support — updates, remote troubleshooting, and platform maintenance. If on-site service is needed after the initial install, Selora connects back to you.
This route is simpler to get started with: Selora handles the subscription billing, customer onboarding, and software support layer. You focus on what you do best — the install and the client relationship.
Client Ownership
Regardless of which route you choose, you own the client relationship. Selora provides infrastructure and support tooling. We do not take over your clients.
- Independent: The client has no direct relationship with Selora. You are their sole point of contact.
- Managed Install: Selora handles remote software support, but you remain the primary relationship. On-site work always routes back to you. Your client was your client before Selora, and they stay your client.
Economics
The Installer Partner Program is designed to create recurring revenue on top of your project-based install fees:
- Discounted rates on SeloraBox hardware and subscriptions.
- Flexible margin — pass savings to clients to stay competitive, or keep the margin to grow your recurring revenue.
- Recurring income from ongoing subscriptions attached to installations you manage.
What You Get
Installer Dashboard (Selora Connect)
Manage all your client installations from one place. The Selora Connect dashboard gives you visibility into:
- All active client installations and their status.
- Subscription status per installation.
- Selora AI toggle (enable or disable per home).
- Health metrics for each deployment.
Secure Remote Access
Request on-demand remote access to any client Home Assistant installation you manage.
- Homeowner-approved — every session requires explicit homeowner authorization.
- Time-limited — sessions last between 1 and 72 hours, configurable per request.
- Fully audited — every access request, approval, and session is logged.
- Revocable — the homeowner can revoke access at any time.
For full details on the access workflow, see the Request Remote Access guide.
Cloud Backups
Every SeloraBox deployment includes fully automated backups managed at the host level.
- Backups are configured outside of Home Assistant and cannot be disabled by the homeowner.
- Encryption keys are managed via AWS KMS — no manual key management required.
- Restore options are available through Selora Connect.
For details on retention policies and restore options, see the Backups documentation.
Device Pairing Codes
Store device pairing codes digitally in Selora Connect so they are always retrievable — no need to dismount a device to read a label.
- Organized by home and device.
- Supports QR code scanning, photo upload, and manual entry.
See the Device Pairing Codes guide for details.
Selora AI
Toggle Selora AI on or off for any client installation directly from your dashboard. When enabled, Selora AI automatically installs HACS and the integration on the client’s Home Assistant instance.
Selora AI provides:
- Proactive automation suggestions — detects patterns in device usage and drafts automations without being asked.
- Natural language control — chat-based interface for managing devices and creating automations.
- Pattern detection — identifies usage trends across devices to surface optimization opportunities.
Selora AI works on any Home Assistant instance — no SeloraBox required.
Installer Network Listing
When you join the installer network, homeowners signing up for Selora are matched with installers by proximity. If a homeowner in your area is looking for professional installation or support, they see you as a recommended partner.
Selora AI as an Entry Point
Selora AI is the lowest-friction way to enter the Selora ecosystem — for both installers and homeowners.
- Free to install. Anyone running Home Assistant with HACS can add it. No SeloraBox, no subscription, no commitment.
- For remote consultants: Install Selora AI on your clients’ existing Home Assistant instances. Use it to accelerate your configuration work and expose clients to the Selora platform.
- For full-stack installers: Enable Selora AI on every deployment to add immediate value and differentiate your service.
- For homeowners: Discover Selora AI independently, then connect with a local installer when they are ready for professional setup or support.
To install, follow the Selora AI installation guide .
Platform Status
The Installer Dashboard, remote access, automated backups, pairing codes, Selora AI, and the installer network listing are all live and available today. Selora AI is currently in alpha — it is functional and available for use, but features and behavior may change as development continues.
We are actively building out health monitoring alerts, automated Home Assistant updates, and additional tooling. For a full view of what is in progress and what is planned, see the Roadmap .
