Build the Installation Manifest
Build the installation manifest for a customer project (floors, rooms, devices, integrations, automations, and dashboards) so Selora Homes can plan the install.
The installation manifest is the room-by-room record of everything in scope for a customer project: floors, rooms, devices, integrations, automation requests, and dashboard layouts. Selora Homes uses it to prepare for install day: which devices need to be installed versus verified, what the project timeline looks like, and what is needed to integrate each device with Home Assistant.
To open the manifest, open the customer’s project in Selora Connect and click Open Manifest.
Add floors and rooms
Start by mapping the home:
- Add each floor, such as Main Floor, Downstairs, and Upstairs.
- Add the rooms on each floor with Add a Room. For example: kitchen, living room, and breakfast nook on the main floor; family room, bathroom, and bedroom downstairs; guest bedroom, main bedroom, bathroom, and hallway upstairs.
Rooms drive the rest of the manifest: devices are assigned to rooms, and dashboard cards are grouped by area.
Add devices
Click Add Devices to build the device inventory. There are two ways to add a device.
From the catalog
- Search the catalog by manufacturer or product, such as Lutron.
- Select the exact device you are adding.
- Mark whether the device needs to be installed or is already installed in the home.
- Click Add Device.
Manually
If the device is not in the catalog, enter its details directly:
- Enter the device name (for example, Samsung Television).
- Enter the manufacturer (for example, Samsung).
- Enter the model number if you can find it.
- Select the category (for example, TV).
- Select the protocol: how the device communicates with its own hub or back to Home Assistant. For most TVs this is Wi-Fi; other devices may use Zigbee, Z-Wave, Matter, or another protocol.
- Optionally, search for the Home Assistant integration the device uses.
- Assign the device to one or more rooms and set the amount in each (for example, one TV in the living room, one in the family room, and one in the main bedroom).
- Mark the install status and click Add Device, then Save.
Review integrations
Open the Integrations tab after adding devices. Every device in the manifest has its Home Assistant integrations associated with it, giving you and Selora Homes a clear picture of what is needed (from the device itself or from the customer) to fully integrate each one.
Request automations
Open the Automations tab to record the automations the customer wants. For each automation, describe the trigger and the action. For example, “Turn on Frame TVs in the morning” with a sunrise trigger and an action that turns on the Frame TVs. Automations can also be based on motion or other triggers.
Plan dashboard cards
Open the Dashboard tab to describe what the customer should see on their dashboard, area by area. For each card, specify the area, the card type, and the devices it covers, for example:
- A media card for the Samsung TV in the living room, so the customer can control the TV from a tablet.
- A light card for the Lutron switches in the living room.
Add as many cards per area as the customer needs.
How the manifest is used
Selora Homes takes the completed installation manifest and uses it to:
- Prepare for install day, including which devices must be installed and which are already in the home.
- Understand the project timeline.
- Determine what is needed to integrate each device and how the integration will be done.
The manifest becomes the basis of the project installation plan you review before dispatch.
