Selora OS
Documentation for Selora OS, the managed Home Assistant platform you can install on your own hardware.
Welcome to the Selora OS documentation. Selora OS is the operating system behind Selora Hub , available on its own. Flash it onto hardware you already own and get a clean, reproducible Home Assistant install with atomic, rollback-capable updates and automatic backups.
What is Selora OS?
Selora OS is a purpose-built operating system that runs Home Assistant as a managed appliance. It is the same base we ship pre-installed on Selora Hub, packaged so you can install it yourself. Because the system is built atomically, every update is applied as a whole or not at all, and you can roll back to the previous known-good version any time.
Selora Hub is Selora OS on hardware we source, configure, and manage for you. Selora OS on its own gives you the same foundation while you bring your own hardware and run it yourself.
Key Features
- Atomic Updates: Reliable, rollback-capable system updates. A failed update never leaves the system half-broken
- One-Click Rollback: Boot back into the previous known-good version whenever something goes wrong
- Automatic Backups: Daily backups with multi-tier retention, restorable onto any machine running Selora OS
- Standard Home Assistant: Your data, automations, and integrations stay yours and stay portable
Getting Started
Selora OS installs by booting from a USB drive. The installer sets up Selora OS and Home Assistant automatically in about 5 to 10 minutes. The installation and migration workflow is shared with Selora Hub:
- Installation Guide : Flash the image and install on your hardware
- Migration Guide : Move an existing Home Assistant setup onto Selora OS
- Backups : How backups and restore work
Prefer not to source and manage hardware yourself? Selora Hub ships Selora OS pre-installed on a ready-to-go appliance.
