Our Mission

Today, you have to choose between two bad options.

Open-source platforms give you everything: thousands of integrations, total freedom, no lock-in. They also give you a second job. Time, technical expertise, and ongoing maintenance are the price of admission, and most homeowners pay it in frustration and half-finished setups.

Professionally installed systems give you polish and reliability. They also give you a closed ecosystem, a high bill, approved hardware only, and a system that gets expensive or impossible to extend the day your needs change.

Our mission is to end that trade-off. Selora AI absorbs the complexity that made open-source smart homes hard: design, hardware selection, configuration, and support. Homeowners buy a system that simply works, on top of Home Assistant and its 2,000+ integrations, with no vendor lock-in and no technical debt of their own. And because the hard parts are handled by the platform, anyone who can run wire can become a certified technician and install it.

A smart home should not require a specialist to own, or a specialist to install. That is the gap we close.

Our Vision

A smart home is still a home. It is where people sleep, raise their kids, and are at their most unguarded. What happens inside belongs to the people who live there, and to nobody else. Privacy is not a feature we add on top; it is the reason the architecture looks the way it does. The same goes for freedom: nobody should have their home held hostage by a vendor’s roadmap, subscription, or decision to shut down a service.

We believe AI will keep moving deeper into the home, and that most of the industry will run it in someone else’s data center. We envision a home with a single central brain that lives in the house, owned by the household, and independent from the cloud. One system that understands the home as a whole, keeps working when the internet does not, and never sends a family’s life somewhere else to be processed.

That home is closer than it looks. Local AI hardware is getting cheaper and more capable every year: NVIDIA’s DGX Spark already has serious competition from AMD’s Ryzen AI Max platforms and from Apple silicon in machines like the Mac Studio. Models keep getting smaller and better, and inference engines are improving at a pace few predicted. Powerful local AI at a price a household can justify is a matter of when, not if.

Selora intends to be the leader when it arrives, which means building for it now. We already run our own fine-tuned models as the first iteration of that central brain, so that when the hardware catches up with the ambition, the intelligence is ready to move into the house.
