Our Commitment to Open Source
Selora Homes is built on Home Assistant , an incredible open source project. We believe strongly in giving back to the community that makes our business possible.
How We Give Back
Code Contributions: Our engineering team contributes bug fixes, features, and improvements back to Home Assistant core and popular integrations.
Documentation: We share our learnings through documentation, guides, and best practices that benefit the entire community.
Community Engagement: Our team actively participates in Home Assistant forums, Discord channels, and community events.
Open Source Principles
Transparency: We’re transparent about which components we build on open source vs. proprietary technology.
Upstream First: When we fix bugs or add features to Home Assistant, we contribute them upstream when possible.
Community Support: We support community developers working on integrations and tools that enhance the Home Assistant ecosystem.
No Lock-In: We believe in data portability and never lock customers into our platform. All configurations are standard Home Assistant YAML that can be exported and used anywhere.
Supporting the Ecosystem
Beyond Home Assistant core, we also support:
- Popular integration developers through sponsorships
- Community documentation efforts
- Home Assistant Conference and regional meetups
- Educational content for new users and installers
Our success is directly tied to the health of the open source Home Assistant ecosystem, and we’re committed to being responsible stewards of these amazing projects.
