eero & Home Assistant
The eero integration is a community project that connects Home Assistant to an eero network through eero’s cloud, polling it on an interval. It is not in the Home Assistant Marketplace catalog, so it is added as a custom repository.
It adds a tracker for each connected client and profile, which Home Assistant can use for presence, along with switches for the guest network, eero Plus features, and pausing a profile or a client. Sensors report network metrics, buttons restart the network, update entities manage eero firmware, and image entities show QR codes for joining the main and guest networks. Thread is separate: every Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 eero is a Thread border router that Home Assistant’s built-in Thread integration discovers without this integration.

How eero Works with Home Assistant
Getting eero connected to Home Assistant and running reliably.
Add it from a link
In the Home Assistant Marketplace, add schmittx/home-assistant-eero from a link, install it, restart, and add eero under Devices & Services. Sign in with an eero account that has no Amazon login.
Pick the networks and clients
The integration options choose which networks to load and which clients get entities, either by including only the selected ones or by excluding them.
Use Thread without it
The eero Thread border routers do not need this integration. Home Assistant's built-in Thread integration finds them on the network, and the eero network's credentials come over from the phone.
Common eero Issues
The problems installers run into with eero and Home Assistant — and how a managed setup prevents them.
Presence stopped working in 2026.7
Home Assistant 2026.7 changed how zones and people read device trackers, and the eero client trackers no longer place anyone at home. The fix is an open pull request (#170), not yet in a release.
Setup fails after a Home Assistant update
Setup ends with an error setting up the entry after a timeout fetching eero data, and the integration stays unavailable until it is reloaded by hand. A fix is an open pull request (#184), not yet in a release.
Amazon logins cannot sign in
The integration does not support signing in with an Amazon account. Create a separate eero account without Amazon login, add it as an admin of the network in the eero app, and sign in with that one.
Data usage sensors raise errors
The day, week, and month data usage sensors need an eero Plus subscription, and they raise a TypeError on every poll for clients with no activity, which fills the log.
Why installers choose managed eero setups
- Integration version checked against the running Home Assistant before it goes in
- A dedicated eero admin account for Home Assistant, not the client's Amazon login
- Only the clients that matter for presence included, not every phone that joins the guest network
- Thread credentials moved to Home Assistant so the eero mesh and Home Assistant share one Thread network
eero devices we deploy
Hardware from the Selora catalog that runs on this integration. The routers themselves work with Home Assistant's built-in Thread integration today. This integration is the part to hold off on, until a release newer than 1.8.1 fixes it.
