The Overkiz integration is the single entry point for eleven vendors that run on the Overkiz IoT platform: Somfy TaHoma, Atlantic, Sauter and Thermor Cozytouch, Hitachi Hi Kumo, Rexel Energeasy Connect, Simu LiveIn2, Ubiwizz, and the builder platforms Bouygues Flexom, Hexaom HexaConnect, and Nexity Eugénie. In practice that means Somfy shutters, blinds, awnings, pergolas, and garage doors, plus Atlantic and Hitachi heating and hot water.

Home Assistant never talks to the motors. It talks to the gateway that holds the pairings, and the vendor is chosen as a server when the integration is set up. Somfy TaHoma and Connexoon gateways and Rexel’s Energeasy Connect controllers additionally offer a local API on port 8443, which removes the cloud from the path for covers, lights, and switches. Every other vendor on the platform is cloud only.

Common Overkiz Issues

The problems installers run into with Overkiz and Home Assistant — and how a managed setup prevents them.

RTS covers report nothing back

Radio Technology Somfy is one-way. An RTS shade takes open, close, and stop and never answers, so Home Assistant cannot track its state after controlling it; the documented workaround is a template cover that holds an optimistic open or closed state alongside it. io-homecontrol motors on the same gateway do report real position, which makes the protocol behind each cover the thing to check before writing an automation that branches on it.

Local API covers only part of the platform

Only Somfy and Rexel gateways speak the local API, and even there scenarios and climate entities stay cloud only. A Cozytouch, Hi Kumo, Flexom, Eugénie, HexaConnect, Simu, or Ubiwizz install has no local path at all, so heating and shutters go unavailable during an internet or Overkiz outage while the wall controls keep working.

The gateway's execution queue is short

The gateway holds roughly ten queued commands. The integration batches commands sent close together into one request, which keeps most automations and groups inside that limit, but a large enough scene still overruns it and surfaces an `EXEC_QUEUE_FULL` error, with a retry that is not guaranteed to land.

Not everything paired to the gateway is exposed

Zigbee, Z-Wave, Hue, and Sonos devices work in the vendor app but are not passed through to Home Assistant, and Home Assistant's own documentation notes that some Cozytouch appliances are not supported by the platform at all. Both are per-device checks, best done before an install is quoted on them.

Somfy

Altus 40 RTS is Somfy's workhorse mains tubular motor for roller shutters, exterior blinds, louvres, and projection screens, with the RTS receiver built in. It is everywhere, it is cheap to specify, and it is one-way: Home Assistant can command it but never learns where it stopped.

Glydea Ultra 60 RTS

Glydea Ultra 60 is Somfy's curtain track motor for heavy drapery, quiet enough for a bedroom and strong enough for 132 lb of fabric on a 36 ft run. The RTS version is the one most fabricators ship, and it reaches Home Assistant through a TaHoma, Connexoon RTS, or myLink gateway.

The IZYMO Shutter Receiver io (1822661) is a micromodule that fits behind an existing shutter switch and puts a wired roller shutter onto io-homecontrol without replacing the motor. The existing wall switch keeps working, and the shutter gains position feedback through the gateway.

Oximo io is Somfy's io-homecontrol motor for exterior roller shutters, sold both on its own and as a retrofit kit that replaces any existing shutter motor whatever brand or technology it used. It reports position, detects obstacles, and is the standard way to bring a house of dumb shutters into Home Assistant one window at a time.

Sonesse 30 WireFree RTS (Li-ion)

The Sonesse 30 WireFree RTS is Somfy's battery interior shade motor: a 12 V lithium-ion pack inside the tube, about one recharge a year, and no cable to pull. It is the answer for a retrofit where running power to a window is not an option, at the cost of RTS being one-way.

The Sonesse 40 io is Somfy's quiet 40 mm tubular motor for interior blinds and projection screens, and it is the one to specify when a shade has to be automated properly: io-homecontrol means the motor reports its real position back to the gateway, so Home Assistant reads a position instead of guessing one.

The Bridge Cozytouch is the gateway behind most of the installed Atlantic base: it joins the home network and speaks io-homecontrol to the heat pumps, water heaters, radiators, and ventilation. Home Assistant reads it through the Overkiz integration with Atlantic Cozytouch as the server, over the cloud only. Atlantic has since moved current radiators and towel rails to CozyBox, so the bridge is now a device to support rather than to specify.

The Pass Cozytouch (602251) is the io-homecontrol radio interface that retrofits an Atlantic appliance with no radio of its own. It mounts behind the unit and lets the Bridge Cozytouch, and therefore Home Assistant, see it.

The Flexom box is the Overkiz gateway Bouygues Immobilier installs in its new-build apartments and houses. It is multiprotocol, bridging io-homecontrol shutters, EnOcean lighting, RTS equipment, and Z-Wave devices, and Home Assistant reaches all of it through the Overkiz integration with Bouygues Flexom as the server.

The HexaConnect gateway is the Overkiz DIN-rail box Hexaom fits into a new house at construction, in the electrical or communication panel. Hitachi Hi Kumo

The SPX-WFG01 adapter is what puts a Hitachi air-to-air heat pump on the Hi Kumo platform. One adapter goes into each indoor unit, the Hi Kumo app pairs up to ten of them, and Home Assistant reads the same units as climate entities through the Overkiz integration. Its replacement, the SPX-WFG02, is an airCloud Home adapter and does not reach Home Assistant this way.

The LiveIn2 box is Simu's Overkiz gateway for its own Hz and bidirectional BHz radio, the protocols its shutter and awning motors use instead of io-homecontrol. Connexoon io (1811429) is the small io-homecontrol box Somfy sold as an entry point below TaHoma, with three app personalities for windows, access, and the terrace. It is discontinued, but Home Assistant still drives it through Overkiz over both the cloud and the local API.

Connexoon RTS is the RTS-only version of the Connexoon box, sold for homes whose blinds and awnings predate io-homecontrol. Home Assistant supports it through Overkiz, cloud or local, but everything behind it is one-way.

The TaHoma Beecon is the RTS and Zigbee hub Somfy sells in North America, where it is marketed as the TaHoma gateway under reference 1811731. Home Assistant supports it through Overkiz, including the local API, and treats it the same way it treats a TaHoma switch.

TaHoma switch is Somfy's current hub and the one to specify for a new install, because it is a multiprotocol gateway that Home Assistant can drive over the local API instead of the Somfy cloud. It ships in two regional variants, and which radios are inside depends on which one was bought.

TaHoma v2 is the previous generation Somfy box, superseded by the TaHoma switch but still in thousands of homes. It is worth knowing because Home Assistant supports it over the local API, so an older installation does not have to be replaced to get local control.

Thermor's Bridge Cozytouch connects its io-homecontrol radiators, towel rails, water heaters, and ventilation to the Cozytouch app, and through the Overkiz integration to Home Assistant. Two generations exist, the wired Bridge Cozytouch (400990) and the Wi-Fi Bridge 2 Cozytouch (400991), and current Wi-Fi appliances skip both.
